Here is a popular delicacy of Sarawak that is a must try if you’re here. Its the Midin Fern or how we pronounce it locally “Bee-Ling” or “Bidin”. Its normally cooked with either spicy belacan or with wine. The one shown below is cooked with wine. According to my grandma, this vegetable used to be very cheap and can be found around the jungle where its a common meal for poor people back then. Today, its a restaurant menu and a featured delicacy of Sarawak.
As for the food review, the restaurant did it up pretty well. Fresh vegetable I must say. As for the butter prawn, I find it lack of sauce and too dry. Well there are many different ways of cooking it. The dry type is the one that I don’t really fancy of. Mian Ann Restaurant is just around the corner which can be seen at the Petanak roundabout. Expensive? not so. Would say its usual restaurant rate – affordable.
